Makwa Provincial Park

Hi everyone,

It looks like spring may have arrived.  I hope everyone had a chance to come to the park this winter and enjoy all the trails.  We are no longer setting the ski trails, but there is still a lot of snow, so feel free to snowshoe on all the trails.

Stabler Point and Mewasin campgrounds will open on June 29, 2023, due to roadway work scheduled to begin at Makwa Lake Provincial Park after the May long weekend. The Jumbo Beach campground will open May 18, 2023.

The roadwork at Makwa Lake Provincial Park is being completed in the spring due to the method of repair and the opportunity to align with ongoing highway upgrades in the area. The new sealed surface requires adequate heat, time, and traffic on the surface over the summer months to cure. This work will significantly improve the main park access road for our park visitors.

Due to the construction of a new service centre in the Stabler Point campground, there may be an increase in noise beginning in July. A temporary shower facility will be in place during construction.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding. Investing in capital maintenance and improvements in our provincial parks is important to Sask Parks as we aim to provide a positive experience for our visitors.

The campsite reservation launch will open for seasonal campsites April 3, 2023, at 7:00 am.  Stabler Point and Mewasin campgrounds are currently scheduled to open June 29, 2023, due to roadway work scheduled at Makwa Lake Provincial Park. Due to this, a fee reduction has been applied to these sites.  There are 38 seasonal sites at Stabler Point campground and 8 seasonal sites at Mewasin campground.  Makwa Lake Provincial Park nightly camping launch is April 6, 2023, at 7:00 am and Bronson Forest Recreation Site nightly camping launch is April 11, 2023, at 7:00 am.  All sites can be viewed at https://parks.saskatchewan.ca/

SaskExpress will be performing at the Stabler Point Campground on Sunday July 16, 2023, at 7:00 pm.  This event will be free of charge with park entry and held at the beach day use area.  Public programming is being planned for every Friday during July and August and these programs are free with park entry (see the event calendar attached).

Swimming lessons will be offered by “Lessons on the Lake” at Stabler Point campground for five weeks.  Registration for the first week of lessons will be July 9, 2023, at the Stabler Point Campground. Bronson Forest Recreation Site, Little Fishing Lake Swimming Lessons with Kennedy will be available July 17th – 21st and July 24th – 28th.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the park.
