Message from Makwa Lake Provincial Park
The team at Makwa Lake Provincial Park & Bronson Forest Rec Site are looking forward to another great season. We have several projects and events happening throughout the summer.
The Stabler Point boat launch will be closed until mid-June as an upgrade project is planned to start at the end of May. The upgrade will increase the parking area and the boat launch area. There will be no access to the Stabler Point boat launch from the land or water until the project work is complete. The boat launch across from the maintenance yard will be open. Park entry is required to use the boat launch.
The Ministry has decided to close the park entry gate. The park office will be open 7 days a week from May 15, 2025, to the end of August 23, 2025, to serve park visitors. Park office hours will be posted. Park staff will be installing additional signage to help visitors purchase park entry or camping through a QR code that is linked to the reservation site. https://parks.saskatchewan.ca/
The second annual Tri-Loon-Athon will be held August 9, 2025, at Stabler Point beach. This special event is organized by Ashley Van Tonder Prete. Ashley is passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and about bringing hope and kindness to those who struggle. Please check out the events webpage. https://www.tri-loon-athon.ca/. The event was a huge success last year and will be even more fun this year. The Conservation Officer’s will be there with their “Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs” program as well.
Swimming Lessons will be offered by “Lessons On The Lake” at Stabler Point campground starting July 7, 2025. There will be four sets of lessons with the last set starting July 28, 2025. There will be one week of lesson at Little Fishing Lake campground August 4 – 8, 2025. You can find additional information by joining their Facebook page, “Lessons On the Lake”.
Summer Cinema will be coming to Stabler Point beach day use area on August 23, 2025. This event is free with valid park entry. The movie showing will be The Wild Robot.
Weekly programming is scheduled for Friday’s during July and August. These are interpreter led programs and can be viewed here; https://parks.saskatchewan.ca/tourSearchResult.do?contractCode=SKPP&parkId=290500. Programs are free with valid park entry. A few examples include Evening Embers, Craft Club and Cloud Explorers. Program calendars will be posted throughout the park and will also be available at the park office. https://saskparks.tourismsaskatchewan.com/events?start=10&park=makwa+lake
We continue to make improvements to the trail system. Our trails provide everyone an opportunity to come out and enjoy nature at their own pace. Please remember to always have all pets on a leash, this keeps them safe and will reduce the chance of having a conflict with wildlife. The park practices Leave no Trace. https://leavenotrace.ca/the-seven-principles-of-leave-no-trace/
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the park.
